Run under Linux and doing miracles for your everyday life

Zim Desktop Wiki, saved my day, a wiki right on your desktop, organize your notes export / import them quickly and nicely.
I believe this is one of the most used apps of my system…

MP3 / Music
I am currently running a BZR version of Exaile, I am really happy with it, stable (even if its a checkout version), many options. From time to time I also run a SVN checkout of Banshee, because of its last.fm support which allows me to stream stations off last.fm and discover new artists

MP3 / Tagging
EasyTag, I believe its one of the most complete tagging programs out there, if I need a quick fix I also use exaile's tag editor

Video Playback
VLC is my choice in this category, all though there are numerous players out there, I am very happy with VLC, stable, quick, lots of options.

Subtitle Editor
Oh yeah, soon enough I came across a subtitle problem and had to find my way around, a few minutes of searching and I came across Gaupol subtitle editor, powerful full working and quick.

System Monitoring
Conky is my preferred app for this kind of tasks, highly customizable (and quite easy I would say) through config files, with build in methods it gives you the power to bring nearly anything to you desktops background without having to suffer any kind of "load" consequences.

Torrent Client
I chose deluge, and I am good with it, had no reason to test another after our "first encounter"
fast, stable, and similar to utorrent of windows (if you are used to running that application)

Code writing
Geany + vim + Zend those are my 3 favorite applications when it comes to code. I found Geany while searching around for new software and I can say I fell in love with it, its constantly open on my desktop, fast, stable and supports quite many languages
Vim…I think I don't need to describe what is vim or vi…if you are familiar with Linux / Unix O/S then you have at least once in your life used the vi or vim editor.
Zend, Studio is the commercial coding platform of Zend for php, powerful with debugging capabilities, my first choice for PHP coding

File Manager
I use GNOME (GNU Network Object Model Environment ) as my desktop environment, which comes with Nautilus as its default browser, my second choice (installed on the system) is PCMan File Manager. Its really lightweight (the reason I use it) and support tabs
something I was missing from the KDE environment.

CHM Viewer
There are no many options around, I had gnochm installed but I had many problems with it, switched to Xchm and I am really happy with it.

I will be updating this list (since I keep it as a reference for my own needs as well) time to time.
