Here is a nice working /etc/X11/xorg.conf for your ati x700 card, please make sure you change the display attributes in it I found this config working very nicely with my Xorg and VLC video playback (I was experiencing problems with it).

Ok I know this has been discussed so many times, and so many users have added their own configurations and suggestions.
My suggestions for sweet font rendering under ArchLinux (Arch Linux), GNOME (GNU Network Object Model Environment ) and Acer Aspire 1694wlmi
